Celebrities Against Poaching

World Wildlife Fund (WWF) recently did a project to save animals from being poached. This project is called 'Hands Off My Parts'. It is to speak up for the animals who can't themselves. This included many celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Ian Somerhalder, Alyssa Milano and many more. Between the many celebrities involved, they share about 31.5 million followers on twitter. The celebrities chosen have lots of popularity so can easily spread the message like wildfire.

We all know Leonardo DiCaprio as the star actor from 'Titanic' but the A-lister is just as keen on helping animal and environmental protection initiatives in addition to his acting career.

In 1998, DiCaprio started up the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, which has since been dedicated to “protecting the Earth’s last wild places and fostering a harmonious relationship between humanity and the natural world,” according to the organization’s website.

Just within the past year, DiCaprio’s foundation has donated $6 million to conservation campaigns.

Back in 2017, Phillip Schofield and his wife recorded a documentary in South Africa. The final episode, episode 3, was about Safari in Africa. Later on in the programme, Schofield attaches a tagging device to the rhino's leg, which is a vital element to bring back up the numbers of the rhino population. This is for experts to track the movement of animals and prevent them from being poached. Schofield says 'he was overcome by the devastating plight of rhinos as they face extinction' with poachers making a fortune selling their horn in parts of Asia. He also stated 'If there was ever a dumber, more stupid thing fro humans to do, it's to assume that their horn made from hair and keratin is good for your health.' Many viewers were pleased when Schofield said this and countless were agreeing with this statement.
